DAY 1.- CUSCO – COCK OF THE ROCK LODGE.
Departure from Cusco early morning in a private car, in the rout route to the village of Paucartambo, you can see, among many others, the Andean Flicker y el Green-tailed Trainbearer.
By noon we will arrive at Acjanaco Pass (3300 mts.) from where we will begin the descent towards the lowlands of Manu. Will spend the afternoon watching birds like the Hooded Mountain-tanager , Grass-green Tanager, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-tanager, Masked Flowerpiercer , and several species of hummingbirds, such as Shining Sunbeam . Accommodation at the Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge.



DAY 2, 3.- COCK OF THE ROCK LODGE.
Keeping the Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge as a base for our excursions, where we will observe birds near the river and along the road as well as in the crowded lodge gardens. These days we can see birds such as the Blue-banded Toucanet , Versicoloured Barbet , Long-tailed Antbird, Yunga´s Manakin , Golden Tanager, Flame-faced Tanager, Yellow-throated Bush-Tanager, Wire-crested Thorntail, and Booted Racket-tail. One afternoon will be dedicated to visit the lek of the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock to try to see the spectacular males during their courtship dance.

DAY 4.-COCK OF THE ROCK LODGE - AMAZONIA LODGE.
Today, very early, we resume our journey to the lower area of the forest. Throughout the decline we can see Blue-Headed Macaw, Military Macaw, Golden-crowned Flycatcher, Dusky-green Oropendola, Golden-collared Honeycreeeper, White-winged Shrike-tanager, Fiery-capped Manakin, and Speckled Chachalaca.
We have a good options for Bluish- fronted Jacamar, Chestnut-capped Puffbird, Fine-barred Piculet, Red-billed Scythebill, Dark-breasted Spinetail, Dusky-cheeked Foliage-gleaner, Bamboo Antshrike and Chestnut-backed Antshrike.
By noon we will arrive at Atalaya to board our boat and head to the Amazon Lodge (30 min). After lunch we will hike in some of its trails.

DAY 5, 6. AMAZONIA LODGE.
We will spend two days in the Amazonia Lodge to explore the different routes. The terrain of this lodge includes different habitats, which allows great opportunities to see birds such as Great Antshrike, Royal Flycatcher, Chestnut-eared Aracary, Spangled Cotinga, Ringed Woodpecker, Great Potoo, Amazon Kingfisher, Green Kingfisher and many more. In the gardens of the Lodge we can see Golden-tailed Sapphire, Blue-tailed Emerald, Black-tailed Trogon, Lemon-throated Barbet, Scarlet-hooded Barbet, Ivory-billed Aracary, Rufous-Crested Coquete, Green Hermit, Violet-headed Hummingbird and Fork-tailed Woodnymph.

We will also visit a small river meandering, the Cocha Machuwasi. To get there we will follow a path where you can see the Yellow-tufted Woodpecker, Blue-crowned Motmot, Lineated Woodpecker, White-tailed Trogon, Double-toothed Kite and Laughing Falcon.
Once we get to the lagoon we will board a pole driven raft from which we can look closely at the strange Hoatzin, akin to the ancient bird Archaeopteryx. This species makes a digestion similar to ruminants, flies only short stretches and their chicks have a claw which they use to climb the branches.
Species typical of this habitat; Striated Heron, Cocoi Heron, Rufescent-tiger Heron, Sungrebe, Red-capped Cardinal, Horned Screamer, Watled Jacana and many more.

DAY 7.- AMAZONIA LODGE -CUSCO.
We leave very early on our boat to Atalaya, from where we start our return to Cusco by private vehicle, with a few ornithological stops on route to add some species more and stretch our legs.
